Yearbook Club – Lights, Camera, Yearbook!
This year, Yearbook Club members will step into the spotlight to help tell the story of our school year. Students will learn photography skills using professional cameras, explore Canva for creative design, and work as a team to build and design the yearbook. Because they may visit classrooms during the day to capture moments, members must keep good grades and show responsibility.

Purpose/Description: Music club will be a community for individuals to share their interests of music and to develop their skills. Students will be learning how to play keyboard (piano), recorder, general musical concepts.
**After the first semester, some students from this club will be selected to compete in the Spring Music Memory UIL meet.
The Music Memory UIL program is designed to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of classical music among students. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to and learn about a variety of musical compositions, thereby enhancing their listening skills, memory, and critical thinking. This program not only fosters a lifelong love for music but also contributes significantly to students' overall academic and personal development.

Purpose/Description: We will focus on improving students' spelling skills and vocabulary through engaging and fun activities. Students will be able to participate in a campus spelling bee and may advance to regionals. A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.
**After the first semester, some students from this club will be selected to compete in the Spelling UIL meet.

The UIL Storytelling competition, primarily focused on grades 2 and 3, is an event where students demonstrate their listening, thinking, and speaking skills by retelling a story they have heard once, in their own words, before a judge or judges.

Purpose/Description: We will focus on improving students' writing skills.
**After the first semester, some students from this club will be selected to compete in the Creative Writing UIL meet.
The contest is designed to promote creativity in an academic format and to encourage writing skills at an early grade level. Through preparation for the contest, students in second grade will be able to evaluate their own writing and the writing of others.
Contestants will be given a prompt with several captioned pictures. From these pictures, the students will create an original story based on their selections in 30 minutes. The stories must contain at least one of the pictured items, but it is not required that all items on the page be included.

Purpose/Description: CodeMonkey is a fun and educational game-based environment where kids learn to code without any prior experience. After completing CodeMonkey's award-winning coding courses, kids will be able to navigate through the programming world with a sense of confidence.Also, It's a program of coding by using a game-based, text-based approach. It offers a variety of courses, from introductory block-based coding for younger children to more advanced text-based languages for older students. The platform aims to make learning to code fun and engaging, while also developing computational thinking, problem-solving, and creating games.

VEX Robotics Competition Team
Advisors: Mr. Bozica and Mrs. Shelton
Description: This competition team is made up of members that are hand selected by the coaches*. In the VEX IQ Competition Team students are tasked with designing, building and driving a robot to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more as they compete in this years Vex IQ Challenge: Rapid Relay. *Note: This team is invitation only.

Purpose: The purpose of the organization is to create a greater sense of responsibility within the student body; to strive for better student/faculty relationships; to promote unification of the student body and better representation of its ideas to the faculty and administration; to promote a positive attitude in the advancement of leadership and loyalty; to promote spirit in the school activities; as well as to uphold traditions and to set standards for generations of Harmony students to come. The objective of the Student Council is to provide a service organization doing various activities within the community throughout the year while developing student leaders.
NEHS (National Elementary Honor's Society)

Purpose: The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). NEHS recognizes students in both public and nonpublic elementary schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility. Through NEHS, students provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills. NEHS supports these purposes by strengthening the lives of our nation’s elementary students and the schools in which they are enrolled.
